Penicuik livewire Louis Crosland may be new to the sport but he’s already making a name for himself in sprint kayaking.

Although the 13-year-old only took up the challenging sport two years ago, he has already been singled out by the Scottish sprint coach for his potential.

The Penicuik High School pupil explained he developed an interest in the sport after watching a programme on television.

“My dad found out about this club which would be good for me. So I started at Forth Canoe Club when I was 11,” said Louis.

The teenager literally took to the sport like a duck to water. “I found it really good and enjoy the fun of it. When I went, the coach (Scottish sprint development coach Kristina Medovcikova) chose me for sprint kayaking. She thought I had potential and when I got into it I started really liking it,” said the youngster.
