Perfect start for Easthouses

Easthouses Lily started off the new season in this league cup section with a rather comprehensive 3-1 win over Border side Kelso United.

Lily took the lead in the 13th minute through Ross Gaylor who ghosted in from the left following a good passing move to drive the ball low past keeper David Simmons. The visitors continued to dominate with some crowd pleasing football with the passing and movement skills really impressive. They did, however, pass up some good goalscoring opportunities to go further ahead and were made to pay as Kelso equalised when in the 40th minute. T

his seemed to spur on the Lily and within two minutes they had restored the lead when a cross from Jimmy Currie picked out Graham Young and his bullet of a header ended in the back of the net.

The second half went much of the same as the Lily continued to squander numerous good goalscoring opportunities. They managed to put the game to bed when in the 68th minute good play by Scott Borthwick slotted the ball beyond the on rushing Simmons into the back of the net.
