BONNYRIGG Rose travel to Ayrshire on Saturday for the second leg of their momentous Emirates Scottish Junior Cup semi final tie against the Cup holders Auchinleck Talbot, following Sunday’s dramatic 1-1 draw at a packed New Dundas Park in the first leg.

Home advantage did not prove a help to the Rose. However, the tie is still not beyond Bonnyrigg starting from scratch in the second leg this weekend - though obviously they will have to be at their very best to reach the 2012 Scottish Cup final, with the balance now slightly in favour of Talbot.

Meanwhile, midweek matches got under way earlier this week, with Arniston Rangers away to Livingston United last night (Wednesday) in the third round of the Fife and Lothians Cup (winners away to cup holders Linlithgow Rose in the quarter finals).

Third top of the South League, this coming weekend Dalkeith Thistle will bid to bounce back to winning ways at King’s Park at home to Spartans whom Thistle beat 2-1 at Ainslie Park as the Jags recover from their 3-2 defeat away to second top Tranent Juniors last Saturday.

Midlothian hosts its own local derby clash at New Victoria Park this Saturday, when Newtongrange Star play their last home Premier League match of the season against relegation-haunted Arniston Rangers.

Arniston stung the Star 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out win in the second round of the Fife and Lothians Cup in February, although Star beat Arniston 4-0 in the League Cup competition, while in the league at Newbyres Park, it finished all square at 1-1.
