There’s good news for any budding Andy Murrays in the Penicuik area – for tennis has returned to the town.

The recently-formed Penicuik Tennis Club opened up its courts and invited local residents to take part in a come and try open day.

Acting in his capacity as Midlothian Provost prior to last week’s council elections, Councillor Adam Montgomery cut the ribbon to formally open the revamped tennis courts, which are situated just off Kirkhill Road.

Dozens of keen participants – of all ages – enjoyed the opportunity to hit a few balls in front of a large crowd of family and friends.

The successful afternoon launch was completed with cake stalls, refreshments and raffle.
