Top marks for Lasswade

Lasswade Athletics Club’s youngsters were in excellent form last weekend as they represented their schools at the Scottish Schools’ Athletics Championships, held at Grangemouth Stadium.

The championships feature the best athletes from all the schools in Scotland, at all age groups from S1–S6.

Over the two days, Lasswade collected five gold, three silver and two bronze medals, along with many SSAA badge standards and personal best performances.

The medal winners were:

Rachel Robertson: Long Jump – Gold (5.53m), Triple Jump – Gold (11.08m) (PB)

Katie Purves: 300m Hurdles – Gold (44.02s) (PB)

Robert Ferguson: High Jump – Gold (2.00m) (PB)

Erin Feeley: Discus – Gold (30.69m), Shot Putt – Bronze (8.78m)

Ellen Kristoffersen: Long Jump – Silver (5.34m) (PB), High Jump – Silver (1.60m), Pole Vault – Bronze (2.70m)

Gareth Fleming: Javelin – Silver (43.45m) (PB), Pole Vault – 4th (2.80m)

Katherine Szymanski: Triple Jump – Bronze (10.02m)

As well as the medal winners, several other athletes were competing for their schools in various events, their results are below:

Fraser Cousin: 80m Hurdles – 4th (13.54s) (PB), Shot Putt – 4th (9.55m)

Amy Frankland: 1500m – 8th (5:06.21)

Amy Smith: 800m – 5th in heat (2:24.89)

Rachel Stoakes: 100m – 7th in heat (14.33s), 200m – 7th in heat (29.55s)

Rachel Hutchison: 100m – 7th in heat (14.65s), 200m – 6th in heat (31.12s)

Rachel Louden: 100m – 7th in heat (15.06s), 200m – 7th in heat (31.62s), Long Jump – 18th (3.49m)

Bethany Murray: 75m Hurdles – 7th (12.61s)

Lisa Robertson: Long Jump – 9th (4.10m)

Henry Clarkson: Long Jump – 6th (4.57m)

Niamh Fellenger: Shot Putt – 11th (5.46m)
