Whitehill Welfare went top of the new Lowland League thanks to an opening day 4-2 win over Gala Fairydean Rovers in Rosewell.

The Welfare started brightly and on five minutes Aaron Somerville put them ahead with a neat finish.

New signing Jordan Finnie was then upended in the box by Gala goalie Dodds, and Wayne McIntosh dispatched the penalty.
