A new bid to secure Heritage Lottery Funding for Mavisbank House, Midlothian’s “hidden gem”, will be submitted in the early part of next year.
The historic villa, built by landowner Sir John Clerk and leading architect William Adam, is at the centre of an 11-year-long project to ensure its future.
Mavisbank Trust, which is spearheading the £3.2 million bid, is now in the process of expanding its local consultation to include community groups.
Trustee and former Midlothian MSP Rhona Brankin said: “We have had exhibitions locally on the plans and the response which came back was overwhelmingly supportive.
“What we have started to do is contact local community groups. We have had initial meetings in the area and our hope is to be able to take that further.”
