Midfest 2014 will launch at Dalkeith Country Park in September, kicking off with a music festival featuring a Scottish feel.

Around 8,000 fans are expected to rock out at ‘Midfest Grown in Scotland’ in front of Dalkeith Palace on September 6, with acts including Big Country and the Merrylees, with Dundee indie rockers the View headlining.

Other acts confirmed for the Saturday include Blondie tribute act Dirty Harry, 90s dance favourites QFX, Eric Faulkner’s Bay City Rollers and Musselburgh songwriter Callum Beattie.

Details of an event planned for the Sunday are still to be announced.

The event has been organised by local businessmen William Slight and Scott Gunn.

Mr Slight said: “We have just confirmed the View as headliners which is great. The line-up is across the board, covering every generation and genre. We have pop acts from the 70s right up to current indie acts.”

Tickets are available from March 3, from Tickets Scotland. Also available at Lasswade, Dalkeith and Penicuik libraries.
