The city has been the setting for famous TV cops and a Hollywood love story, whilst some of the cities historical buildings have played the perfect location for interior shots of mystery thrillers and a certain superhero blockbuster. 1. Chariots of Fire, 1981
The Oscar winning feature film about the 1924 British Olympic team had its fair share of scenes shot in Edinburgh. Telling the story of runners Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams and their joint quest competition for Olympic gold, the film was shot in Inverleith Park, Assembly Hall, and Holyrood Park. 2. Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, 1978
10 years after Maggie Smith portrayal stole the nation's hearts, Geraldine McEwan took the reins of Miss Jean Brodie in the popular ‘70s TV series. 3. One Day, 2011
Another book to film adaptation saw Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess play Emma and Dexter. The film chronicles their love story over 18 years after their first meeting on the night of their graduation from the University of Edinburgh. 4. The Da Vinci Code, 2006
The murder thriller, based on Dan Brown’s best selling book, saw Tom Hanks as Professor Robert Langdon unravelling mysteries after a murder in Paris.
