This is what Edinburgh’s Jamie Clayton got up to in the villa last night.

What did he get up to?

Last night's episode (12 Feb) opened with Jamie and Demi having a flirty chat before discussing their date they had earlier.

Demi explained that she really enjoyed her date with Jamie, calling him a “really lovely guy”. She also said that her head has “been a bit scrambled” about the situation between her, Jamie and Luke T.

Demi asked Jamie what his thoughts on Shaughna were, to which Jamie said, “I dunno, it’s just tough to say so soon.”

After explaining that he really enjoyed both dates with Demi and Shaughna, Jamie also said, “I’d be lying if I said I could pick a favourite.”

While in mid-conversation with Demi, Jamie was pulled away for a chat with Natalia, whom he also had a flirty exchange with. Natalia was impressed that Jamie remembered her name.

She asked him how his first night was going, to which he replied “good” and that, since coming in, he “knows what direction he’s going in, in terms of what girl [he’s] interested in”.

He also said that he’s got “no loyalties to anyone”.

After revealing that Natalie is only 20 years old, Jamie (who is 28) jokingly referred to himself as “the daddy” after calling himself old.

Knight in shining armour?

Jamie wasn’t just talking to the girls this episode - he also pulled Callum to one side for a chat about his behaviour whilst he was in Casa Amor. While in Casa Amor, Callum became involved with Molly, despite coupling up with Shaughna in the main villa.

“How do you think you handled, like, the situation with Casa Amor?” Jamie asked Callum.

Callum explained that there was no right or wrong way to go about doing things, and that the things he was feeling in Casa Amor were “natural”.

Callum said, “I want to do what’s right for me at the end of the day.”

After spotting Callum and Jamie going away for a chat, Mike, who was sitting with the girls, said to Shaughna, “What’s he trying to do, like, be your knight in shining armour? You don’t need it.”

Shaughna didn’t agree with that however, explaining that while Nas had respect for Demi, Callum didn’t show her that same respect, claiming that he “didn’t go about things the right way”.

This prompted Shaughna to ask, “Why did none of you boys have my back? You all claim to be my big bros, but none of you said nothing.”

Brutal honesty

Back with Jamie and Callum, Jamie said, “If I’m just going to be brutally honest, I reckon if I had any mates that were potentially thinking about swaying, I’d probably be like, ‘Look, mate, hold back’.”

Callum said that things just clicked with Molly and that the way things played out between them was more natural.

Speaking in the camera room, Jamie said, “I just think if anyone was in the position to sort of tell Callum that, especially from a male perspective, that that simply isn’t on, then I think it would’ve been me.”

Talking to the camera, Callum said he thought it was a “bit strange” having the chat with Jamie, but he’s happy to chat if someone wants to. Later in the episode, Shaughna revealed that she doesn’t really fancy Jamie, and has more interest in Luke M.

Online reactions

Jamie’s actions in the villa last night drew some mixed reactions from fans, who took to Twitter to express their opinions.

In response to Jamie’s chat with Callum, one user wrote, “I’m sorry but is Jamie the police? Why does he care?” followed by a bunch of laughing emojis.

Another tweeted, “Jamie, why you pulling Callum it’s actually well cringe, who sent in the head master #LoveIsland.”

Not all reactions to Jamie’s presence in the villa was bad however, with one user tweeting, “We have a good past record of men called Jamie coming in at the last minute and coupling up with our favourite girls who have been unlucky in love… PRAYER CIRCLE that we have another Jamie Jewitt on our hands #LoveIsland.”

Another wrote, “Need a Jamie from Love Island in my life.”
