GR Ant’s Floorfillers: Thursday 11 October

THIS week’s floorfillers, including techno from Edinburgh producer Stephen Brown (with contributions from Ben Sims), plus offerings from Matt Minimal and The Advent

Ben Sims V Stephen Brown - Fuego/Polar

EDINBURGH producer Stephen Brown creates two soulful techno tracks, layered with synths and exquisite programming. Theory Recordings label boss Ben Sims rinses both tracks with his funky techno stylee. It’s the Sims versions for peak time club shenanigans – Brown for a mellower vibe.

Matt Minimal - Le Retour

TWO massive techno cuts with full on epic energy assault, both are filled with tension building risers, fantastic percussive elements and booming basslines. Dance-floor domination, yes?

The Advent - Sonic Intervention

COLIN and Cisco’s much awaited 2012 album is packed with belters, from the opening Bladerunner/Vangelis Present Voyage to minimal techno funk of Disco Diva, and the old-school electro stomp that is Electric Pandemic, featuring vocals from Detroit Grand Pubah’s Paris. There are at least five bangers heading straight to the club and a further five equally exceptionally tracks for a slightly less frantic environment. Brilliant.

Alex Karakasis – Barracuda EP

IT’S bashed it’s way to the top of the vinyl tracks with Karakasis’ uncompromising style of techno. Intelligent percussive layers and cleverly used effects combine with thunderous beats and spacey synths to create a dance floor bomb. The Spektre remix is exclusive to this digital release and is a slam dunking killer.

Beeswax – Dark Rooms

DARK, ripping techno thunders down the path to mayhem, with bubbling basslines and hypnotic chords. An out and out, Banger.
