The venue has supported Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) for the last two decades by holding collections at the end of shows such as Matilda, Wicked and Phantom of the Opera. The Playhouse reached the milestone figure during the run of hit Disney musical The Lion King, which alone has brought in £50,000 in donations with a further £10,000 expected by the time the final curtain falls on 18 April.

Leane McColgan, of the Playhouse says, “We are thrilled to have raised £150,000 for CHAS. “For almost two decades we have been working to highlight CHAS valuable work with bucket collections always a highlight for our staff and visiting shows, including The Lion King. We would like to thank all our visiting shows for helping us reach this important milestone and as always our audience members for their generosity. Their support will make a real difference to the lives of children and their families across Scotland.”

CHAS community fundraiser Sarah Dannfald adds, “We are so grateful to the Playhouse for choosing to support CHAS and raising an amazing £150,000 over the last two decades.

“Thanks also to The Lion King cast and crew for helping the theatre secure a third of that total over the last four months alone with further donations continuing to roll in.”

The Lion King runs at The Playhouse until 18 April.
