Boss ‘drove van at worker’

A CITY council employee taking legal action over alleged bullying and harassment at work claims his manager drove a van at him as he walked along a footpath.

Frederick Martinello, 53, a community service assistant who supervised groups of offenders, has been given leave to attempt to prove his claims against the council, naming two of his superiors he says launched a personal campaign against him.

The two men and the council deny the allegations.

He alleges that throughout 2005 he was subjected to verbal abuse and criticism by managers James Hewitt and Frank Kane. He claims he suffered anxiety and depression.

He also alleges that in 2007 he was walking along Crewe Road North when a white minibus veered towards him, driven by Mr Hewitt, who sounded the horn and gesticulated with a clenched fist.
