New real-life dating app arranges dates in minutes for singletons in Edinburgh - and it’s free to download

Instead of the never-ending stream of people to swipe through, users simply choose where and when in Edinburgh they’d like to go on a date each week. The evening beforehand, they can then see everyone else who’s also free to date then.

Uniquely, everyone’s profile contains three voice questions which must be answered in order to potentially go on a date with them. If there’s a mutual match, tbc arranges the date at a great venue the following evening. It’s as simple as that.

The launch will come as a welcome relief for those spending hours on dating apps with little reward – an experience which can often feel like a second job. The new app enables users to arrange dates with just a tap.

Niluka Kavanagh, co-founder of tbc, comments: “People are fed up. We’ve lost sight of the fact that going on a date should be fun and easy. Instead, most dating apps involve hours of chatting which is emotionally exhausting and doesn’t even guarantee a date. Having been single myself, I know how disheartening the whole experience can be.”

Ben Hanney, co-founder of tbc and former student at The University of Edinburgh, goes on to explain how their app is tackling the problem head on: “tbc was designed from the ground up to ensure people spend more time out on dates than they do using the app itself. Our unique voice-based approach completely eliminates the hours of back and forth chatting, while also giving you a much better sense of the chemistry you might have with potential dates.”
