Street food Edinburgh: 6 fantastic pop ups to try this weekend

Of the many things we miss from pre-pandemic life, the delicious food scene in Edinburgh has to be high on the list. We may have taken it for granted before, but now it seems utterly luxurious to go out somewhere new to dine.
While you can’t sit in a restaurant or cafe at the moment, you can sample some incredible scran on the streets of the Capital – thanks to the diverse street food pop ups which have emerged.

We’ve put together a list of some of the best places to try this weekend.
Sabzi
Pronounced ‘sub-zee’, this family-run pop up can be found on the Leith side of Ferry Road. They serve up Punjabi street food every Saturday and Sunday, from 1pm to 6pm.
Dishes range from dahl and stuffed breads to loaded chips and toasties – and mouthwatering vegan and vegetarian options are available.
Pizza & Dreams

Hide AdThis 100% Vegan Pizza pop-up us back this weekend at Leith Walk Police Box.
They take pre-orders but will also have some pizzas available on the day. Toppings include vegan pepperoni, vegan haggis, and vegan paprika sausage.
The Devils Bean Coffee Co
This pop-up coffee shop in The Old Dr Bell’s Baths, Leith, serves “hellishly good coffee, ethically sourced”. It’s open 9am-3pm, Friday to Saturday, and owner Rod Nisbet is hoping to organise a new local traders market in this area soon.
Mana Poke
This Edinburgh pop up got so popular it now has a permanent base in Rodney Street, Canomills. Their famous Hawaiian poke bowls are packed with sushi rice and goodness!
McLarens on the Corner

Hide AdBased at 8 Morningside Road, McLarens on the Corner has been running a food and drink pop-up for collection and local home delivery throughout lockdown.
They are open from Thursday through to Sunday and offer takeaway cocktails, beer, crepes, sandwiches and bubble waffles.
Bundits of Leith
This pop-up in Constitution Street is all about the bao. If you’re not familiar with what they are, they’re Chinese steamed buns which can be stuffed with a variety of delicious fillings – from fried chicken to katsu prawns and even tofu.
