The Midlothian Food and Drink Awards is calling on locals to be ‘mystery shoppers’ and serve up success for the area’s top spots to eat and drink.
Organisers need volunteers – who will be briefed on what to look for and how to score the places they visit – to judge local businesses.
The mystery shopper stage will run from April 28 to May 14 followed by another judging stage by the Food and Drink Committee.
Now in their sixth year, the awards have grown into a prestigious affair, with winning businesses benefiting from increased profile and custom, and public involvement in judging and voting is seen as vital.
“I think it’s good for any business to know exactly what their customers think of them,” said Alan Gorrie, chairman of the committee.
“Everyone wants to win one of the awards but unfortunately there can only be one winner in each category.”
All nominees will be announced in May after the completed judging process.
The winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony, which will take place on June 15.
The awards, which are supported by the Midlothian Advertiser, are also sponsored by Itihaas, Ikea, Costco, Arthur McKay, Crummock, Flowers By Lamb and Dalkeith Country Park.
