Hearts staff benefit from Living Wage rise

Hearts have announced that their members of staff will today receive a pay boost due to the increase in the Living Wage.

The first Scottish football club to offer the Living Wage confirmed that staff would benefit from a rise from £8.25 to £8.45.

In total, more than 500 employers pay the Living Wage, which is different from the National Living Wage, which is £7.20 for over-25s.

The announcement from Hearts comes at the start of “Living Week”, a UK-wide celebration of the Living Wage initiative.

A Heart of Midlothian spokesperson said: “Heart of Midlothian Football Club is proud to be a Living Wage Employer.

“The club feels that implementing the Living Wage, and today’s rise, is entirely in keeping with the values that we hold dear at Heart of Midlothian FC.

“This week is a fantastic opportunity to help us raise awareness of the need for a real Living Wage; one that meets the cost of living and ensures staff earn a wage they can live on.”
