Bombay Lounge in Dalkeith is nominated for Social Media Campaign of the year while Pentland Sweets in Penicuik is nominated for Best Community Initiative.

The awards recognize the contribution these establishments have made by continuing to operate during the lockdown.

Each restaurant has been nominated and voted for by members of the public and those with the highest number of votes have been shortlisted.

Although they have been prohibited from welcoming diners to their premises, they have continued to support their communities by providing takeaways, deliveries and support for frontline NHS staff.

Fraser Howie launched Pentland Sweets from the bedroom of his Penicuik home in May last year to deliver treats to friends and neighbours with a sweet tooth who couldn’t get to the shops during lockdown.

The winners will be announced next week.
