Murron Ireland, ten, landed the top prize as part of Verdant Leisure’s 10th anniversary last week.

The company, which operates holiday parks in Scotland and the North East of England, wanted to share the celebrations with a child also turning ten and set about dreaming up a plan for the ultimate free break for one lucky winner.

It launched a Facebook competition asking for families with children who had their 10th birthdays in September to submit video entries on why they deserved to win free holidays for ten years at Verdant Leisure’s UK parks.

The competition attracted a huge amount of attention with dozens of entries.

And after landing her prize, Murron admitted she is "very excited, was secretly hoping to win but can't believe she's actually won."

Proud mum, Laura added: “We entered in the hope to bring some happiness during a very strange year.

"Murron has adapted well to home schooling and not seeing family and friends and thought she would like a holiday in a caravan. She has also seen how worried I have been with her brother heading off to halls of residence at his first year of University. And as life returns to normal this will be something to really look forward to, along with her three-year-old sister.”

Murron, Laura and the rest of their family will be able to enjoy ten free holidays, over the next ten years at Verdant Leisure’s ten parks – located in the Borders, Ayrshire, Perthshire and the North East of England.

The parks offer a range of accommodation to suit all tastes from glamping pods to luxury lodges and all offer a wealth of facilities in stunning countryside or coastal locations.

“We’re delighted for Murron and her family – we hope this win made her 10th birthday even more special. We can’t wait for them to visit our parks and make many years’ worth of happy memories with us,” said Bev Dixon, Commercial Director, Verdant Leisure.
