Charity thanks its volunteers

The charity Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland has thanked volunteers and fundraisers in the Capital for their work over the past year.

Chief executive David Clark said thanks to advances in treatment, and changes in lifestyle, more people survive heart attacks and stroke, which meant more people were living with the long-term impact of these conditions. He said: “During 2011 we were able to help more than 14,000 people.”
