All parking charges suspended in Edinburgh to help key workers during lockdown

Council leader Adam McVey said: “From today Edinburgh City Council charges for on-street parking will be suspended to help key workers fulfil their roles.

“Yellow lines, loading bays, disabled parking & city car club spaces will still be enforced to help keep essential vehicles travelling.”

Lifted restrictions

The decision follows a similar move by Glasgow City Council earlier this week.

All on-street pay and display parking bays in Edinburgh will be suspended until further notice.

Yellow lines, loading bays, disabled parking places and car club places will continue to be enforced.

Hospital parking

Earlier today Health Secretary Jeane Freeman confirmed that car parking charges for NHS staff at three PFI hospitals will be scrapped for three months.

“We cannot have barriers to staff working in the NHS," she said. “Last week I said I would act if I could to remove parking charges from those PFI car parks, so from Monday 30th March they will be removed from Ninewells hospital in Dundee and Edinburgh royal infirmaries for the next three months.”
