Coronavirus in Scotland: 107 new cases recorded in the Lothians as the country records one more death

Nicola Sturgeon said today in her daily briefing that in the last 24 hours 107 new cases have been confirmed in the Lothians while one more person has died from the virus in Scotland.

In total, 912 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Of the new cases 107 were in NHS Lothian, 363 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 219 in NHS Lanarkshire and 73 were in Ayrshire and Arran.

The First Minister confirmed that 1,226 people are in hospital with the virus, a decrease of 19 from the figure reported yesterday.

105 people are in intensive care, which is six fewer than yesterday’s figure.

While only one more death has been recorded Ms Sturgeon said: “I would of course remind you that registration offices tend to be closed at weekends, so the figures we report for

deaths on Sunday and Monday’s can be artificially low as a result of that.”

In total, Scotland has recorded 64,355 positive cases since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The death toll in Scotland is now 3,040.
