Coronavirus in Scotland: 133 new cases in the Lothians as the country records 48 deaths

A total of 133 people in the Lothians have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours as Scotland records 48 deaths.

The latest figures, released on Saturday, reveal 895 people in total across the country have tested positive for coronavirus since the day before.

To date, 1,729 people are in hospital having recently contracted the virus while 117 people are being treated in intensive care with confirmed Covid-19.

The Scottish Government has confirmed that as of today, 786,427 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 10,332 have received their second dose.

In a media briefing last week First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon said the country is “on track” to vaccinate those considered extremely clinically vulnerable and the over 70s by mid-February.
