Coronavirus in Scotland: 164 new cases in the Lothians as country records 68 deaths

A total of 164 people have tested positive for Covid-19 since yesterday as the country records 68 new deaths in the last 24 hours.

Across Scotland as a whole, 2,039 positive tests have been confirmed since the day before.

To date, 95 people are being treated in intensive care with recently confirmed Covid-19 and 1,384 people are in hospital having tested positive for the virus.

Since the start of the outbreak a total of 1,414,764 people in Scotland have been tested at least once.

Of these people, 141,066 have tested positive and 1,273,698 were confirmed negative.

So far, a total of 4,701 people have died who have tested positive for Covid-19.

The Scottish Government confirmed 40 per cent of coronavirus registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 54 per cent were in hospitals and 6 per cent were at home or non-institutional settings. These figures were last revised on December 20.
