The Scottish government has commissioned 700 new ventilators for hospitals to prepare for more victims of the coronavirus.

Health Secretary Jeane Freeman confirmed that the machines had been ordered as it was revealed the country’s normal flu GP surveillance procedure was expanding to encompass 200 surgeries which cover 1.2 million people.
