‘Burgh Property workers pick the shields up from Summerhall and distribute them around the city.

The Edinburgh Shield Force project has contracted an injection moulding site and is now producing 2,000 face shields a day.

Each face shield costs around £2 to make, and an online fundraiser has raised almost £35,000.

Managing Director of ‘Burgh Properties Andrew Markham said: “We’ve got our four cars which have not been doing very much for the past few weeks.

“Our business was turned upside down and our initial thoughts were if we can’t do something for ourselves then why not so something for someone else?

“We just wanted to get involved and do something for the community. It’s a really brilliant example of the care and humanity in people coming together.”
