Fifty new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the NHS Lothian board area in the past 24 hours, as the death toll in Scotland increased by 36.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in Scotland is now 1,847, according to the Scottish Government.

There are 2,324 confirmed cases in the Lothians as of Saturday afternoon with 197 patients being treated in hospital – an increase of 2 from Friday – and an additional 7 people in intensive care – taking the ICU total to 20.

Authorities also confirmed that 13,305 people across the nation had now tested positive for the virus - an increase of 156 since yesterday.

The Scottish death toll from the virus now stands at 1,847.

A total of 71,092 people have been tested for COVID-19 through NHS Scotland labs to date.
