Funds raised for late Tilly Simpson to go to children's cancer charities

The courageous tot lost her fight with cancer in the early hours of Tuesday surrounded by her loved ones.

But now what remains of the £120,000 raised for pioneering treatment will be split between organisations working to fight childhood brain cancer and to support sufferers and their families.

Tilly’s story inspired a campaign that raised enough money to allow her to travel to a Texas clinic – the only place where treatment is available.

Her parents Lewis, from Linlithgow and Michelle who lives in Ayr, had hoped the pioneering therapy would prolong her short life. The youngster was diagnosed with a Diffuse  Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) brain tumour earlier this year and was given months to live.

A family statement said: “There are no words to describe how proud we all are of the undeniable bravery our little princess has shown. You truly are an inspiration and will be missed beyond measure.”

DIPG is extremely rare and occurs almost exclusively in children aged ten or under.
