Tilly’s story inspired a campaign that raised enough money to allow her to travel to a Texas clinic – the only place where treatment is available.

Her parents Lewis, from Linlithgow and Michelle who lives in Ayr, had hoped the pioneering therapy would prolong her short life. The youngster was diagnosed with a Diffuse
Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) brain tumour earlier this year and was given months to live.

A family statement said: “There are no words to describe how proud we all are of the undeniable bravery our little princess has shown. You truly are an inspiration and will be missed beyond measure.”

DIPG is extremely rare and occurs almost exclusively in children aged ten or under.
