Restrictions in Edinburgh and Lothians will not be lifted, Nicola Sturgeon announces

The First Minister announced this afternoon in parliament that the levels of restrictions across Edinburgh and the Lothians will not be lifted this week.

Edinburgh and Midlothian are set to remain in tier three while East Lothian will stay in tier two.

The First Minister also confirmed that West Lothian will remain in tier four until December 11.

Ms Sturgeon said that no immediate changes to the levels across Scotland will be proposed today but she did say that the Government are closely monitoring certain areas including Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

Level 4

You should not be meeting anyone else indoors either in private or public spaces. Restaurants, cafes and bars are all closed. You can meet one other household outside in groups of up to six people.

Level 3

You should not meet anyone indoors in your home or theirs. You can meet inside in a public space, such as a cafe or a restaurant, in a group of up to six people with two separate households. You can also meet up in a group of up to six people from two households outside either in a public space or a private garden. In both of these instances, children under the age of 12 do not count towards the group number.

Restaurants, cafes and bars can open indoors and outdoors and serve food and non alcoholic drinks. Hospitality venues cannot serve alcohol under any circumstances in tier three. Last entry is 5pm and all venues must be closed and have all customers off the premises by 6pm.

All retailers can remain open provided they follow the Government guidance.

Level 2

You should not meet anyone who is not in your household indoors in your home or in their home. You can meet another household indoors in a public place such as a cafe or restaurant. The maximum number of people who can meet indoors in a public place is six which can be from up to two separate households.

Restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars can open indoors to serve food and drinks. Alcoholic drinks can be served but only with a main meal.
