The Ritz Cinema in Rodney Street opened on 10 September 1929. The end came on 28 November 1981 with Exorcist II and Mad Max and the building was demolished in 1983

Eastway Cinema, Easter Road, was originally called the Picturedrome. It became the Eastway after the owner Alex Black died. The new owners, Associated General Provincial Cinemas, reopened under the new name on 17 May 1943 showing I Married an Angel and The Middle Watch. It closed on 26 August 1961 and became a Cooper’s Foodstore
