Happy customers are queuing up outside some of the Capital’s favourite drinking holes as beer gardens reopen for the first time since lockdown.

Lines of people have been spotted outside The Pear Tree in Nicolson Street this afternoon as the popular outdoor spot resumes service.

The popular central pub is taking bookings online, similar to its competitors across the city.

While the first day was fully booked, staff have assured customers there are still space throughout the week for drinkers to reserve to enjoy their long-awaited pint in the sunshine.

In a message on Facebook, the team said it was great to be back and welcoming customers back to their venue after months of lockdown.

Thousands of pubs and restaurants across Scotland have been waiting to restart trading after the Scottish Government’s “route map” out of lockdown, published last month, suggested beer gardens would be allowed to reopen in the initial stages of Phase 2.

Today marks the first day pubs and restaurants can welcome back customers for a drink after months in lockdown.
