Scotland is currently in phase 2 of its lockdown easing plan, but the country’s pubs and beer gardens remain closed.

On 24 June, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed that outdoor hospitality, including beer gardens, would be allowed to reopen from 6 July. From 15 July, pubs and restaurants are expected to be able to open their indoor spaces on a “limited basis”.

On reopening, businesses in the hospitality sector will be required to take names and contact details of customers and store them for four weeks, in order to make the tracking and tracing of any potential coronavirus outbreaks easier.

In the meantime, those who are missing draft beer and expertly mixed cocktails can collect them to take away from many of Edinburgh’s favourite pubs and bars. The drinks can be taken home or enjoyed outside, weather willing.

Bear in mind that the current government guidelines state you should meet up with no more than two other households outdoors per day, and should maintain a minimum of two metres physical distance at all times.
