Whether you’re a ‘90s music aficionado, a Scottish traditionalist, a cool jazz listener, or you love rocking out or chilling out, there’s a music festival for you in and around Edinburgh this year.

And staying in touch with friends, making sure you don’t miss the perfect photo opportunity and capturing every Instagrammable moment, means you’ll want your phone fully charged to stay connected at all times.

And if you’re also camping, picnicking or staying long into the night and would love to be able to power up a mini-fridge to keep the drinks cool, have a light source, stream a movie on your laptop or play some tunes after the bands have stopped, then you’ll want to be able to run a host of devices – and there’s unlikely to be a plug to a power source handy.

Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival

Summertime and the living is easy – allow yourself to sink into the mellow sounds of soulful jazz and blues at this event in Leith. This festival has been going strong for over 40 years and is one of the largest in Europe. From Trad jazz to electronic blues there’s something to suit all tastes in the jazz and blues world – there’s also a colourful spectacle with a Mardi Gras and Festival Carnival which goes from the Mound to the west end of Princes Street. (July 14-23)

Party at the Palace

This looks set to be a right Royal occasion- although it’s not at Holyrood, but a few miles away at Bonnytoun Farm, Linlithgow, it’s only 20 minutes by train from Edinburgh.

It boasts more than 50 acts and lasts over two days. This year’s big names include Scouting for Girls, OMD, Shed Seven and Callum Beattie. (August 12-13)

Connect Music Festival

This festival was relaunched last year and brings together international acts and local talent from Edinburgh. It’s a small festival which packs a punch. Sited at the Royal Highland Showground near the airport, it’s handy for the city centre, but also offers boutique camping and a host of fringe events. You’ll catch some great acts like Franz Ferdinand, Beth Orton, Primal Scream and Young Fathers. And alongside the music is comedy, art, and well-being events. (August 25-27)

Power at your fingertips

Jackery started in California in 2012, founded by an ex-Apple engineer, and is a pioneer of the solar generator industry providing solar-powered generators for a huge range of events – from music festivals to world disaster zones – and of course supplying the domestic market for people wanting a safe, environmentally friendly source of energy in the home or on the move.

Superb for days out or camping the new Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus can be recharged in just over two hours, with lasting battery life.

Its ultra-durable batteries mean it will last up to 10 years, with the battery level at 70 per cent even after 4,000 charges. And if you need more power simply get an add-on battery pack – ideal for a large group of happy campers!

Super safe technology prevents overheating and noise-reduction means they’re virtually silent when generating. And you can control it via the Jackery app –connected via Bluetooth or WiFi.

Looking after you and the planet

Jackery has supported a series of projects to safeguard the natural environment and preserve biodiversity. It partnered with the National Forest Foundation to plant 10,000 trees in the US; made donations in Germany to permanently protect 10 square kilometres of forest and participated in a tree planting project in Japan to support environmental protection. Recently it partnered with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world's leading conservation organisation to support WWF's efforts to protect the black-footed ferret, one of North America's most endangered mammals.

And its pioneering products have earned Jackery an industry-standard award for reducing its carbon footprint. The carbon footprint results of some of Jackery's products have achieved the international standard ISO 14067:2018, a standard that defines the requirements necessary for organisations to qualify the carbon footprint of their products. The award is given by TÜV SÜD, an internationally recognized third-party certification organisation, and was given for two solar panel products and seven portable power products, which is a first for the solar generator industry.
