DALKEITH: Dalkeith Town Council has been given authority by the Secretary of State for Scotland to build 94 houses in the burgh over the next two years. In considering the letter, the housing committee had information of the council’s intention to develop St Andrew Street, Shadepark and the Gibraltar area with a total of between 40 and 50 houses.


LOANHEAD: A solution has been found which will allow immediate work on Loanhead’s £500,000 sewage system to go ahead. Following a site meeting last week an agreement was reached to carry out work immediately on Hunter Avenue.


PENICUIK: Calls for a rail link between Penicuik and Edinburgh were made at Penicuik and District Community Council last week. Community councillors were considering transport options in preparation for putting together a response to Midlothian Council on its transport strategy.
