DALKEITH: Steps are to be taken to wind up the Dalkeith Children’s Gala Day Committee after 10 months of stalemate. There has been no gala in the burgh since 1959, but 15 months ago a new committee was elected in a bid to revive the event. However, three public meetings failed to arouse interest.
BILSTON: Bilston’s regional councillor and Lothian and Borders fire brigade have reacted angrily to a spate of hoax calls in the village. Since the beginning of October the fire brigade has been called out five times to Bilston after receiving false information, on October 3, 5, 17, 18 and 19.
MIDLOTHIAN: Midlothian Council has revived the practice of the civic leader of the local authority wearing a chain of office, after a 25 year gap.
