NEWTONGRANGE: Passers-by at the Lady Victoria Colliery, Newtongrange, last weekend must have looked twice at the scene before them. Four youths apparently victims of a runaway coal truck. Fortunately all was not is may first have appeared. The youths were helping to demonstrate a mock accident.


PENICUIK: Plans for new classrooms at Wellington Primary School might soon be passed by planning officials. A planning application for work to begin has been put to Midlothian District Council Planning Committee. Work involves the erection of classrooms, garage and horticultural buildings.


BONNYRIGG: Bonnyrigg’s football casuals claim they will be forced back on to the streets if the First Frame snooker hall at New Dundas Park is forced to close next year. In a letter to this Advertiser, Bonnyrigg Soccer Youths hit out at plans use the land for an indoor bowling development.
