DALKEITH: A party of Danish county councillors visited Westfield Park Old Peoples Home, Eskbank, on Wednesday. After chatting to the old folk, the visitors said how thrilled they were at seeing the home and its residents. The Danish councillors were served tea after a visit to West Calder High School.
BONNYRIGG: Lasswade Rugby Club officially opened its new ground “Hawthornden” at Poltonhall, Bonnyrigg, on Saturday. The 12-acre complex built at a cost of £51,000 incorporates three pitches, a floodlit training area, provision for a cricket square and possible squash courts as well as the new clubhouse.
LOANHEAD: Residents in Loanhead have won their fight to restrict the opening hours of two local chip shops, following a series of late night disturbances in the town. Members of the district’s general purposes committee agreed to restrict the late hours’ catering licences of two shops.
