1970s-style train to stay

SLAM-door railway carriages built in the 1970s drafted back into service for peak-time journeys to the Capital will carry on rolling across the Forth Bridge for at least another two years.

The train is operated by German rail giants DB Schenker on behalf of Scotrail for two services from Cardenden to Edinburgh every weekday.

A Scotrail spokeswoman said: “Safety is paramount, with a robust maintenance regime in place and key safety checks made on a daily basis.”
