Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her early twenties was subjected to a serious sexual assault last month.
The incident happened sometime between 1pm and 4pm on May 17 within woodlands in the Gore Glen Country Park/Arniston Estate area near Gorebridge.
The woman is described as white, early twenties, five foot two inches, with dark straight shoulder length hair, wearing a white vest top and faded blue jeans. The male is described as white, six foot three inches, mid-twenties with a slim build, short fair hair and wearing blue faded jeans and a white t-shirt.
Police are seeking to identify witnesses who may have spoken to or observed a distressed woman in that area or remember seeing this same woman with a man within the woodlands or in Gorebridge.
They are particularly interested in any dog walkers within the Gore Glen/Arniston Estate area on that day between the relevant times.
Police have conducted numerous local enquiries and have a positive lead at this stage but are keen to hear from anyone with information that can assist with this investigation.
Those with information can contact police on 101 or via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in complete anonymity.
