Appeal over Penicuik stud house

COUNCILLORS are being asked to throw a lifeline to a Midlothian equestrian business.

An appeal has been lodged against planning refusal for a house at the Eskvalley Stud and Livery near Penicuik.

Caroline Wilson wants to build the property at Stackyard Park, Wellington, to safeguard the breeding of Welsh ponies and cobs, which she has been undertaking on the site since 2002.

But planning officials believe that the applicant has failed to justify the long-term need for a house.
