App’s perfect grammar tool

TWO Loretto School pupils have created their own smartphone app to help their school friends with French grammar.

Lawrence Bissell, 13, from Inveresk, and 12-year-old James Shaw, of Haddington, have been testing their app, Descendre, which is loosely based on the popular app Down.

The interactive game has ten levels and players must avoid distractions, such as a baguette and Napoleon, as they attempt to match an auxiliary verb with a past participle.

Lawrence said: “We have come up with a fun way of learning the perfect tense.”

Jonathan Hewat, director of external affairs at the school said: “They both considered naming it Angry Verbs, but Descendre is far more appropriate.”
