Arrests in Dalkeith

Police in Midlothian have arrested a man in connection with two alleged assaults in the centre of Dalkeith earlier this week.

Officers were called to an address on the High Street at around 12.50am on Monday (August 31) in response to reports of separate assaults against two men.

A 25-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged following an extensive investigation and he appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, police arrested and charged a 23-year-old woman with regards to a serious assault that was reported in the town’s Wester Kippielaw Drive on Monday (August 31) at around 3.15am.

A 25-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment and his since been discharged.

The woman appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Steven Bertram said: “Local officers are using all resources at their disposal in order to trace those who carry out criminal offences and I would encourage anyone who wants to report a crime in their area to contact police on 101 or speak to any officer.”
