The curtain rises on Saturday afternoon for Penfest, the two-week arts and performance festival in Penicuik.
The opening event of the Penicuik Community Arts Association extravaganza will be the presentation of the Penicuik Turner Prize in Penicuik Arts Centre at 2pm.
The Turner exhibition will be on display in the arts centre, West Street, from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday.
Three local artists – Ulla Hipkin, Jane Kelly and Christina Suter – extend an invitation to visit their studios on September 14, 21 and 28.
Penicuik Folk Club will host a singalong in The Roadhouse, John Street, on Tuesday, September 17, at 8pm.
Inspired by Art is the title of an evening of music and poetry, which will take place in the arts centre on Wednesday, September 18, at 7pm.
A musical monologue, with Michelle Burke and James Ross, will be performed in the arts centre on Friday, September 20 at 8pm.
Step into my Parlour features a collection of songs from the Irish tradition of interspersing them with stories and memories. Tickets are on sale from the craft shop.
