Crime writer Ian Rankin is giving voice to Midlothian’s mining heritage.
The literary legend is the narrator of a new multimedia guide to the National Mining Museum Scotland.
Using archive film, oral history and photographs, the guide takes visitors on a journey through Midlothian’s industrial past, telling the story of the people who mined the black diamonds and the communities that supported them.
Visitors to Newtongrange’s five-star visitor attraction can now view the Lady Victoria Colliery’s working days on dedicated hand-held units or on their smartphones as they tour the museum.
