Moorfoot Court Retirement Housing Development in Bonnyrigg is looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteer befrienders to help reduce isolation and increase the community involvement of their tenants.

Bield, one of Scotland’s leading providers of housing and care, are looking for a befriender who could visit a tenant on a regular basis, whether it be sitting in and chatting over a cup of coffee or visiting the local shops and enjoying a cuppa in a local cafe.

Manager Shirley Queen said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for our service user who would like to continue her social activities within as well as out-with the development but is unable to due to health issues.

“With the assistance of a volunteer befriender this resident will be able to do the things which she enjoys, which is, of course, very important.”

If you are free weekday mornings or afternoons and enjoy socialising, visit and complete the online form or contact Shirley on 0131 663 2707 for more information.

Enquiries are welcome from people of all ages over 16. Full training and support will be given and out-of-pocket expenses will be paid. A minimum commitment of six months is required.
