Bid to honour war brothers

A CAMPAIGN to honour seven East Lothian brothers who fought in the First World War with a memorial has begun.

A descendant of the Cranston brothers, from Haddington, four of whom died in the war, is travelling to Scotland to present the case in their home town.

Stuart Pearson, from Sydney, great grandson of the brothers’ mother, said he hoped their bravery would be remembered. He said: “As we near the 100th anniversary of the start of the war, I hope that a memorial could become a metaphor for every Scottish family’s loss during that terrible event.”
