Funding has been secured to enhance an area of open space in Bilston.
Midlothian Council is to spend £56,000 improving a grassy area in the village, which is often used as a local shortcut.
The project will create a new asphalt path, upgrade the existing path for disabled use, and provide lighting along the two paths.
Work will also be carried out to improve the main entrance with tree and bulb planting. Seats will be installed and there will be toddler seating in an informal play area.
The council received £29,000 towards the project from WREN, which distributed landfill tax money.
