Body found in West Lothian burn as emergency services remain on scene

Emergency services remain in attendance after a body was found in an area of water in Bathgate this morning.

Police have cordoned off areas near Boghead Burn after a body was discovered in a small area of water in the area at around 7am this morning near Linkston Way, Bathgate.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the body.

A witness said grass was taped off near Bathgate Early Years Centre, however, this has now been removed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.55am on Thursday, 18 March, we received a report of a body in a small area of water near Linkston Way, Bathgate.

"Emergency services remain at the scene.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) attended the scene this morning.

SAS sent three resources from their specialist operations response team and an ambulance.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “ We received a call at 06:49 and sent three resources from our specialist operations response team and an ambulance to the scene.”
