Police in Midlothian are appealing for witnesses following a series of break-ins.

At least six properties were targeted overnight in the area of Golf Course Road, Bonnyrigg, between Sunday and Monday, December 6 and 7.

Garages were also broken into as well as attempts made to do so.

A variety of property was stolen it is likely the culprit was using a vehicle to remove these items from the area.

Inspector John Dryden, of Penicuik Police Station, said: “At least one of the garages involved was not secured at all and we would ask people to review their security in light of these break-ins and to make sure they have taken adequate steps to protect their possessions.

“All too often we are seeing high value items stored in outbuildings with little or no security.

“I would like to reassure the community that we have a dedicated team of officers investigating these crimes and would encourage anyone with any information to contact us via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
