Elderly and vulnerable residents at Springfield Bank Nursing Home in Bonnyrigg face an uncertain future following this week’s announcement that operator Southern Cross Healthcare is to shut down.
Made to the stock exchange on Monday, the announcement will spell worry for residents and 65 members of staff at the 70-bed facility at Cockpen Crescent.
Southern Cross announced its intention to seek a financial restructuring of its business in March. For weeks the company has been locked in negotiations over a restructuring of property arrangements.
